Translational Neurobiology Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship

Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC

The Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC is one of Virginia Tech’s only research institute devoted solely to biomedical research. It opened on Sept. 1, 2010, welcoming new faculty, postdoctoral fellows, students, and staff from across the United States and throughout the world. The institute has grown rapidly, and as of 2023 holds more than $170 million in research grant funding, primarily from the National Institutes of Health, with nearly 40 research laboratories.

Virginia Tech is a large, land grant university with a strong history of providing meaningful experiential learning opportunities to undergraduate students. This includes a long history of successful summer undergraduate research programs and NSF-funded Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) programs. Virginia Tech is in the midst of unprecedented growth in neurobiology-related research, training, and education.

Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC’s neuroSURF program is for undergraduates interested in working in translational neurobiology labs at the institute. There are additional summer undergraduate research opportunities at VT which can be found on the VT Office for Undergraduate Research homepage.

Each summer, we are thrilled to welcome our new cohort of students to Fralin Biomedical Research Institute.  View a list of our students by cohort year, from 2017 thorugh 2023.
